Sebastian Masuda

Born in 1970. He has been involved in theater and contemporary art since the early 1990s, and in 1995 opened the shop ``6%DOKIDOKI'' as a place for expression. Currently based in Tokyo and New York, he creates works that transcend the boundaries of art, fashion, and entertainment with a consistent and unique sense of color. He created an opportunity for Kawaii culture to become known around the world, including designing Kyary Pamyu Pamyu's ``PONPONPON'' music video and producing KAWAII MONSTER CAFE. From 2009 to 2011, the world tour “Harajuku “Kawaii” Experience” was held in more than 20 cities mainly in Europe and America, disseminating information about the history and kawaii culture of Harajuku. Since his solo exhibition "Colorful Rebellion -Seventh Nightmare-" held in New York in 2014, he has held exhibitions both domestically and internationally, and in 2017, he held lectures and created works based in New York and Amsterdam as a Cultural Envoy for the Agency for Cultural Affairs. Taking the opportunity of the pandemic, I became deeply interested in the nature of communities, and through Kawaii communities around the world, I advocated a new tribe called "Digital Tribe" that can transcend race, religion, age, gender, national borders, and all kinds of borders and connect through digital. . We continue to create all the phenomena that exist in the world as materials.
