Chiaki Haibara

Japan

Born in Chiba Prefecture. After graduating from Musashino Art University, in 2014 he started the project ``Suddenly, Opening Before My Eyes'' with friends from the art department at Korean University. An exhibition of the same name was held in 2015. After that, he entered the master's program at Tokyo University of the Arts, and from 2018 to 2019, he was accepted to Bezalel Academy Arts and Design in Jerusalem and traveled to Israel/Palestine. He creates works with an interest in the process of affirming the incomprehensibility of something, an event, or a state of someone, and at the same time emphasizing the process of continuing to try to understand. At the 2020 Saitama International Art Festival 2020-art sightama-, he created works based on interviews with people who moved their lives to Saitama City from difficult-to-return areas in Fukushima Prefecture, and exhibited at his solo exhibition in 2017. In ``Resewn Constellations,'' I tried to trace the mental state of citizens at the time, taking a hint from the religious form that Sayo Kitamura founded in 1945.
