Yasuaki Igarashi

Japan

Born in Chiba Prefecture in 1978. Completed master's program at Tokyo University of the Arts. Through collaboration with people, we develop expressive activities in various locations that beautifully connect local life and nature and transform the landscape. I believe that art is a technique for the relationship between humans and nature, and in this day and age, it is something that connects diverse people. Based on his experience of sailing approximately 4,000km from Japan to Micronesia on a yacht in 2005, he bases his activities on a ``sea perspective.''
Representative projects include ``Kusukaki'' (Fukuoka Prefecture/Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine/2010-), which aims to be an art project that will last for a thousand years, set in a camphor forest, and ``Sora'', in which fishermen and others weave fishing nets toward the sky to capture the landscape of the land. Ami》 (Setouchi Triennale 2013, 2016, 2019), ``Kumoyui'', which connects lakes and clouds with braids in collaboration with people living in the mountains (Northern Alps International Art 2017), and the world in Antarctica using the meridian as a thread. ``Bundling Time'' (Antarctic Biennale 2017), in which people from all over the world fly kites together using strings tied together, and ``Sea Crossing'' (Kumamoto Prefecture), which aims to reconstruct ancient folk beliefs as works of art and pass them on to future generations. /Tsunagi Art Museum/2021~) etc.
