Dadang Christanto

Born in 1957 in Tegal, Java, Dadang Christanto has spent the past 30 years creating work deeply rooted in human experience, including political violence and wrongdoing against humanity. Currently living on the central coast of New South Wales, he continues to create work that speaks to human suffering and the need for compassion, regardless of differences in faith or political system.
In 2003, he was the first Indonesian artist to represent his country at the Venice Biennale.
