Taisuke Makihara

Japan

Born in Hiroshima Prefecture in 1977, lives in Chiba Prefecture. In 2003, completed the oil painting course at Musashino Art University Graduate School of Art and Design. From 2009 to 2011, he went to England as an overseas trainee for emerging artists from the Agency for Cultural Affairs. Makihara's installations, which use ``restoration'' and ``scenery'' as methods and deal with specific spaces and environments, contain both artificial and natural objects. The fact that the work is like this reveals that the history and time of the place are also imperfect and complementary, with the natural and artificial beings. In 2020, he started research focusing on the tidal flats of Tokyo Bay, and moved to Kisarazu City last year. A project called ``Art and Tidal Flats'' was launched by artists and researchers who consider the relationship between nature and art in tidal flats. Other recent exhibitions include “Each Landscape” (Komagome Soko, 2020), “In the Urbanized Wilderness” (Minami-Aiki Village Sanso, 2022), “Urban Landscape” (Kudan House, 2023), “ In the Urbanized Wilderness” (SUNDAY, 2023).
